Ingredients
  

  • 6 apples Granny Smith or Honeycrisp
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup light corn syrup
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp cotton candy flavoring optional
  • Gel food coloring red, orange, pink
  • Candy thermometer
  • Wooden sticks

Instructions
 

  • Wash and dry apples thoroughly. Insert wooden sticks into the tops.
  • In a saucepan, mix sugar, corn syrup, and water over medium heat. Stir until dissolved.
  • Bring the mixture to 300°F (hard crack stage) using a candy thermometer. Remove from heat.
  • Stir in vanilla extract, cotton candy flavoring, and food coloring until well combined.
  • Dip apples into the candy mixture, coating evenly. Let excess drip off.
  • Place apples on parchment paper to cool and harden.
